About R4D

The Results for Development Institute (R4D) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating social and economic progress in low and middle income countries. We provide policy analysis, critical information, decision-making tools, and policy advice to governments, civil society organizations, and international funders in order to stimulate positive change. With expertise in many areas – including specialties in economics and finance, health policy, education, and governance – R4D works with leaders, globally and at the country level, to design and test solutions to some of the world’s biggest development challenges.

R4D’s expertise in global health covers the following areas:

Health Systems Strengthening – R4D documents innovations in health service delivery and ways to improve the “stewardship” function of the government in overseeing public and private activities in health. Harnessing the Private Sector - R4D helps countries and donors gather and analyze information on these non-state actors, and design and implement policies that harness the potential of these actors while mitigating the risks.

Human Resources for Health (HRH) - R4D works with Ministries of Health and Education to evaluate employment and training policies for HRH and their impact on costs and financing.

Health Financing - R4D works with its partners to design and evaluate better policies for financing health services, including risk pooling (insurance).

AIDS - R4D models and analyzes the long term costs and financing options for AIDS and examines how major policy shifts now can improve future expenditures and financing while ending the AIDS pandemic.

Immunizaton – R4D assists the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations in designing and testing its new policies on country eligibility and graduation, co-financing, and new vaccine adoption.
